CGFNS postpones opening Beijing exam center until November

PHILADELPHIA, PA — MAY 2, 2003 — The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) has decided to postpone opening its Beijing exam center for the CGFNS Qualifying ExamSM due to concerns over the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) situation in China.

After consulting with our Chinese test administrators and reviewing the advisories from the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, the Commission believes that the exam needs to be rescheduled for the welfare of CGFNS Test Center Staff and applicants. CGFNS salutes the courage of health care professionals providing care during these trying times.

The opening of the Beijing test site will be rescheduled from July to the November 12, 2003 administration of the Qualifying Exam. Applicants who requested the Beijing exam center in July will be notified of their alternative options.

The new exam center will be open for the November 12, 2003 exam and all exams thereafter. The exam center number for the Beijing location is 801. Applicants who are interested in taking the November Qualifying Exam in Beijing, or any exam thereafter, need to indicate the exam center number 801 as their choice of exam center on their Certification Program application.
