CGFNS International promotes new book for foreign-educated nurses

The book is dedicated to all foreign-educated nurses whose wisdom, courage and caring spirit give voice and meaning to the nursing profession worldwide.

Philadelphia, PA, USA — A primary resource for foreign-educated nurses who continue to be part of the health care system in the United States has just been published by CGFNS International and Springer Publishing Company. The Official Guide for Foreign-Educated Nurses, What You Need to Know About Nursing and Health Care in the United States, provides invaluable insight about providing safe, competent nursing care for foreign-educated nurses joining their U.S. colleagues.

Foreign-educated nurses comprise approximately ten percent of the U.S. nursing workforce. The challenges they face in pursuing their dreams to practice in the United States range from leaving their home countries, to obtaining a U.S. work visa, attaining licensure and employment in the United States, understanding and communicating within the U.S. health care system, and adjusting to a new life.

Based on 30 years of providing credentials evaluation and verification services pertaining to the education, registration and licensure of nurses and health care professionals worldwide, CGFNS International teamed with Springer Publishing Company to publish this guide for foreign-educated nurses who seek to practice in the United States. CGFNS International CEO Barbara L. Nichols, DHL, MS, RN, FAAN, and CGFNS International Director of Global Research and Test Administration Catherine R. Davis, PhD, RN, serve as editors for the book.

In the book’s foreword, Diana J. Mason, PhD, RN, FAAN, writes: “This book is a must read for every nurse who is contemplating migrating to the United States. I know of no better resource for you, even if you’re not yet certain that you want to go to the United States.”

What You Need to Know About Nursing and Health Care in the United States is now available for the purchase price of $35.00 and can be ordered online from Springer Publishing at www.springerpub.com/cgfns-nurses.
