Certification Program statistical data The Certification Program is designed specifically for first-level, general (registered) nurses educated outside the United States and consists of three parts: a credentials review, a test of nursing knowledge and a test of English language proficiency. Applicants must complete all three parts to qualify for a CGFNS certificate. The test of nursing knowledge is the CGFNS Qualifying Exam®, a paper-and-pencil examination given three times a year at over 50 test sites worldwide. Passing the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® satisfies one of the immigration requirements for registered nurses securing an occupational visa to work in the United States, and is a prerequisite for licensure by a majority of the U.S. state boards of nursing. International nurses who passed the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® on the first attempt had a 92.4 percent chance of passing the U.S. licensure examination, NCLEX-RN®, according to the 2006–2007 CGFNS Annual Validity Study. Queries about the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® data below should be directed to: Dr. Catherine Davis, CGFNS International Director of Global Research and Test Administration. |
