United Nations Day 2020

October 24, 2020

UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being. 24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. This UN Day, we’re joining the United Nations in celebrating its 75th Anniversary.

The UN’s 75th year has seen the spread of an unprecedented global health crisis in the COVID-19 pandemic, its resulting socioeconomic challenges, and growing mistrust of public institutions and transnational cooperationall of which have made the UN75 campaign theme of listening and global dialogue that much more imperative to building a better future for all

CGFNS works closely with the UN as an NGO in Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), an associated NGO with the UN Department of Global Communications, and a member of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO). More about our work with the UN>>>

We’re proud of this recognition because we believe that lending our voice to impactful multilateral initiatives—as we did with the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in 2018—is essential to fulfilling our mandate to protect migrating health professionals and the public they wish to serve. And since 1977, more than 3 million nurses from around the world, in addition to many other professionals across the health sector, have relied on our services to help them take the next step in their journey in a new country.
