Franklin A. Shaffer, EdD, RN, FAAN, FFNMRCSI, President and CEO of CGFNS International, Inc. was interviewed by Sigma Theta Tau during a meeting for its Global Advisory Panel on the Future of Nursing & Midwifery (GAPFON).
Beginning in 2014, Sigma convened a core panel of visionary global nurse leaders to identify global health issues that will advance global health, specifically noting those related to a voice and vision for nursing and midwifery. This panel, GAPFON, seeks to provide evidence on the value of nursing, and to participate in and influence health policy, nursing leadership and practice, education, and the global health agenda. Dr. Shaffer was selected as a member to represent CGFNS.
“I congratulate Sigma Theta Tau and the sponsors that have indeed brought together GAPFON and brought together all of us as organizations without setting any boundaries or borders but asking us just to be who we are and what we do and bring together as a collective and respect for one another,” Dr. Shaffer said.
