2021 World Immunization Week

April 20, 2021 - April 25, 2021

For World Immunization Week 2021, CGFNS International joins the World Health Organization in applauding nurses and frontline health workers working around the clock to administer vaccines to nurse the world to health. This year’s theme, Vaccines Bring us Closer, sheds light on the impact of vaccines and how vaccination improves the health of everyone, everywhere.

Vaccines are quite literally bringing millions closer again in 2021, after the COVID-19 pandemic required us to avoid embracing friends and loved ones for more than a year, and as we salute the nurses and frontline health workers who continue to work around the clock to ensure populations are vaccinated against the virus.

But we’re not just celebrating the COVID-19 vaccines; immunization saves millions of lives each year, often from otherwise preventable diseases, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza and measles. Immunization reaches more people than any other health service, the WHO has found, connecting families with healthcare systems and ensuring everyone has access to the care they need. In fact, humanity has been relying on immunization for protection and to bring us closer for the past 200 years!

In the last decade alone, more than 1 billion children have been vaccinated globally—but we still have much to do to ensure universal access to life-saving vaccines, trust in the health workers who administer them, and ultimately, health for all. That’s why we’re joining the international community in declaring that #VaccinesWork.
