Philadelphia—CGFNS International, Inc. is proud to be the recipient of the 2021 International Council of Nurses’ Partners in Development Award – recognizing the two organizations’ long and successful partnership and collective efforts to advocate and advance nursing during the ongoing pandemic.
The award recognizes those who have demonstrated excellence in engagement, investment, and leadership in advocating for expanding the capacity of nursing and healthcare. With the award, the ICN board acknowledged CGFNS’ sustained and strategic contributions to nursing-led projects at all levels around the world, supporting the empowerment of nurses through certification and continuing education, and driving significant progress in the patient care environment.

CGFNS’ President and CEO Franklin A. Shaffer, EdD, RN, FAAN, FFNMRCSI accepted the award on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the CGFNS team at the opening ceremonies of ICN’s 2021 Congress. “CGFNS is honored to be this years’ recipient of the Partners in Development Award and we look forward to continue our collaboration to advance global nursing”, said Dr. Shaffer.
During the 2021 ICN Congress, CGFNS participated in 23 concurrent sessions focusing on the challenges facing the nursing profession today and tomorrow, as well as two symposiums. This past Wednesday, global experts addressed “The Nurse Migration Tsunami: Preparing for the Future and Ensuring Ethical Recruitment”, which offers critical insight into how migration patterns will shape healthcare in the coming years. Today, members of the ICNM Strategic Advisory Group discussed “Nurse Retention and the Pandemic: Impact and Responses”, providing an assessment on how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the global nursing workforce, with a specific focus on the critical issue of nurse retention. All registrants of the 2021 ICN Congress will have a 6-month access to all sessions upon closure of the virtual congress.
