CGFNS International is proud to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, and we pledge our support to help the nurses and healthcare professionals of Ukraine.
Recognizing that special attention must be given to those forced to flee their country to escape war and persecution, CGFNS is proud to announce its Passport2Liberty initiative that will restore credentials for Ukrainian nurses who wish to migrate to the United States.
Passport2Liberty offers assistance to Ukrainian nurses that wish to work in the United States as they seek refuge from the war in their homeland. The Passport2Liberty initiative will follow the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Uniting for Ukraine requirements, providing a pathway for displaced Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members to come to the United States.
Under the Uniting for Ukraine initiative, people fleeing from the war are able to bypass traditional United States visa requirements and utilize this new, streamlined process.
To be eligible, Ukrainians must have been a resident in Ukraine as of February 11, 2022, complete public health requirements, and pass biometric and biographic screening and security checks. Further, to be credentialed as a nurse in the United States, state board of nursing licensing requirements must be met, including proof of English proficiency. Please also note that the requirements for obtaining a license to practice as a nurse differ in each U.S. state. Additionally, here are more resources to learn about how to work as a nurse in the U.S.
For a Ukrainian nurse that does not qualify for the USCIS’ Uniting for Ukraine initiative but is seeking help, you may be eligible for Temporary Protected Status, and CGFNS may be able to assist with verifying your professional credentials.
